Dad gots up at 5:30 am to catch the sun rise toward on Rockefeller Pkwy. Perfect whether and took many photos and video. Dad saw Elk.
Moose Visitor Center was located at just across the snake river from Rockefeller Pkwy. Park ranger suggested to take Jenny Lake hiking course.
From the visitor center to the Jenny Lake, there was a first view point of the Teton Mountains.
We took a boat from East Shore Boat Dock to West Shore then hiked to the Hidden Falls.
At the bottom of the fall, when we started to hike, Hiroto hit his nee on the rock.
We lost because the map was incorrect.
Hike to Inspiration Point and then backed to West Shore. Hike south rim of the Jenny Lake to return
Mom's heavy headache was gone by the creak water.
These purple flowers supposed to be Western Monkshood (Aconitum columbianum), Buttercup Family. If so, the plants contain poisonous alkaloids, especially in the roots. (from Wildflowers of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park, by Richard J. Shaw)
The Giant Red Paintbrush (Castilleja miniata), Snapdragon Family. The plants bloom from July to August.
We see a lot of chipmunks on this hiking.
Drove Teton Park Road to the North to Jackson Lake Junction where was popular location for the Moose river watch. We arrived there around 5:45 pm. Soon later Mom asked "what is that black one?" which was a female Moose standing in the river. A child Moose was also there. "WAO!". It is about 30 minutes watching for them. They eat plants in the river. Mom Moose can dip her head for 30 ~ 40 seconds into the water.
Can you see the Moose? Mom Moose was in the river, child Moose was on the glass.
The sun is going to sink over the wide wide nature field.
Need a big zoom lens to take like this.
After the Moose watch, we drove down the Rockefeller Pkwy and stopped several times.
At the river side, we found many foot prints. One for the Elk,
one for the Deer,
and one for the Coyote or Fox.
Then we saw a Coyote or Wolf was sneaking but he did not hunt anything.
We went to the Family Restaurant in the town.

Mom and Dad went to the morning mountains. Totally clear sky and stop near the visitor center. Yesterday's view point was much far from the mountains. And we realized that to have some distance is needed to see such a huge scaled view. We saw a group of Elks eating breakfast.
We planned to drive on the River Road which require 4-wheel drive car. It must be a fun!
We through the ticket gate to National Park
and soon make a right turn. Rough road made a lot of dusts. We stopped at the first slope is passed. Mountains were so nice and took pictures with the car.
Children climb on the roof of the car.
Mountains from the right are; Teewinot Mountain (12325ft / 3756m), Mt. Owen (12928ft / 3940m), Grand Teton (13770ft / 4197m), Middle Teton (12804ft / 3902m), [South Teton (12514ft / 3814m) is hidden by], Nez Perce (11901ft / 3627m), and Mt. Wister (11490ft / 3502m).
We saw two Elks near the snake river, Mom and child Pronghorn (got by Junko) in the yard, and a fox (or Coyote?) at the river land. Hiroto said that we saw some Ospreys. Osprey is the hawk and eagle family, smaller than bald eagle.
The road becomes bumpy. Our van hit the bottom several times then finally the road became unable to drive. We made U-turn at the middle of the bumpy slope after several trials.
It was a scarily tour. But only 2 other car we see in these 2 hours.
We drove back to the Teton Park road and turn left to the Jenny Lake Scenic road. We picnicked at the park bench. Many squirrels were playing around.
The mountain view from the scenic road is fantastic. Jenny lake can be seen from the parking of the road.
Right side mountain is Mt. St John (11430ft / 3484m), left side mountain is Teewinot Mountain (12325ft / 3756m).
The valley at the center is Cascade Canyon that we hiked.
We move to north and stop at the Colter Bay Visitor Center. This is the shore of the Jackson Lake.
Mt. Moran (12605ft/3842m) is settled over the lake.
It must needed a week minimum to enjoy the Grand Teton National Park.
We drive further north to leave from Grand Teton National Park to Yellowstone National Park.
Some pictures from the souvenir slides.
